US President Trump Asked to Unblock 41 Twitter Users After Court Ruling

A US free speech group on Friday asked President Donald Trump to unblock 41 Twitter users after a federal judge in May ordered him to restore access to a group of individuals who filed suit. US District Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald in Manhattan ruled on May 23 that comments on the President’s account, and those of other government officials, were public forums and that blocking Twitter users for their views violated their right to free speech under the First Amendment of the US Constitution. The Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University on Friday sent the Justice Department a list of 41 accounts that remain blocked from Trump’s @RealDonaldTrump account. The seven users who filed suit had their accounts unblocked in June. “As the district court has held, the First Amendment prohibits the president from blocking Twitter users simply because they’ve criticized him,” said Katie Fallow, senior staff attorney at the Knight Institute. The White House did not imm...

Fortnite for Android May Be Exclusive to Samsung for 120 Days

Image
It’s widely speculated that Fortnite for Android would be a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and Tab S4 timed exclusive. Now it seems that Epic Games’ battle royale sensation could grace other Samsung devices, such as the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Note 8. After a 30-day exclusivity period on the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and Tab S4, Fortnite Mobile for Android could hit other Samsung Galaxy S series devices for a possible “90 days and possibly for as long as 120 days” according to Android Headlines. “Instead, once the Note 9 exclusivity has come to an end, a second exclusivity period will kick in for Samsung which will see owners of select models from the Galaxy S series gaining access to the new game as well. This second period of exclusivity is understood to either be 60 or 90 days long – that is, on top of the 30 days for the Note 9. Which in total would mean that Fortnite’s arrival on Android is going to be locked in with Samsung for at least 90 days and possibly for as long as 120 d...

FIFA 19 Survival Mode Is EA's Take on Battle Royale

Image
FIFA 19 has a September 25 release date and aside from tweaking player ratings, there’s a new mode too. Dubbed as Survival Mode, has more in common with the battle royale genre popularised by PUBG and Fortnite than well…football. In FIFA 19 Survival Mode, each goal you score has one of your players (chosen at random) leaving the pitch. Unlike battle royale however, you don’t get to a situation wherein it’s down to the last player standing and the pitch doesn’t reduce in size either. This is because it follows real life football rules wherein a match is abandoned if either side has fewer than seven players. So to win, you need to score five goals resulting in five of your players making an exit from the match. And while having some similarities to the battle royale genre, EA states this was devised long before PUBG Corp and Epic Games popularised it. “That battle royale thing kicked off long after we came up with this idea, but it’s funny people are associating it [Survival Mode] wi...

Google Takes the Blame for UIDAI Number Showing Up in People's Phonebooks

Google has finally put the controversy of UIDAI contact showing up seemingly randomly in people’s phones at rest and confirmed that the issue didn’t result from any directive by any authority in India but due to a software issue in Android. The controversy under which UIDAI’s now-decommissioned toll-free number was spotted by many mobile phone users in the country can be traced back to 2014, Google said, when the then UIDAI number and the 112 distress helpline number were “inadvertently coded” within the Android setup wizard and has remained on devices, the company confirmed to Gadgets 360 via an emailed statement late on Friday. “Our internal review has revealed that in 2014, the then UIDAI helpline number and the 112 distress helpline number were inadvertently coded into the SetUp wizard of the Android release given to OEMs for use in India and has remained there since,” a Google spokesperson said in a statement emailed to Gadgets 360. “Since the numbers get listed on a user’s con...

Valve's Artifact Gets a Release Date

Valve has announced a release date and price for Artifact. The card collection game is based on its popular MOBA, Dota 2. The Artifact release date is November 28 for Windows, macOS, and Linux via Steam. Artifact’s price is $19.99 (around Rs. 1,366). Artifact Android and iOS release date is slated for 2019. At the time of filing this story there’s no Steam page for the game yet, so there’s a good chance it might be priced less for India when it eventually hits. The game will ship with 280 cards and players will be able to buy and sell them on the Steam Community Marketplace according to Touch Arcade. This could result in an interesting economy around the game, but could also crash and burn as we saw with Diablo 3’s auction house during its early days. Unlike other card collection games, Artifact will not be free-to-play and it won’t be pay-to-win either, Valve claimed earlier in the year. That being said, you will be able to purchase cards via the marketplace. Bargain hunting will b...
